Bridgeport Lead Free Families
The Lead Free Families Program is an intervention and preventive program to reduce lead hazards for low and very low-income children age 6 & under in targeted neighborhoods throughout the City.  Community outreach, widespread lead screenings, education to families and their landlords, risk assessment, and low-cost interim controls and abatement plans are used in eligible households in accordance with the HUD Lead-Safe Housing Rule.  Program has targeted five (5) neighborhoods with high poverty rates, increased incidence of lead poisoning, and a majority of housing stock built prior to 1980.
