LAND RECORDS
Any and all transactions involving land located in the City of Bridgeport must be recorded in the Town Clerk’s Office. This includes, deeds, mortgages, attachments, tax liens, judgments, maps, floor plans, probate certificates, death notices, variances and all other legal documents pertaining to land use and transfers. The Town Clerk records, and keeps permanent documentation and indices of all transactions. These records are open to the public.
PLEASE NOTE: We do not look up any information over the phone. That includes any recording information or book and page numbers. Requests for any information must be made in writing via the United States Postal Service or other couriers. We will not accept faxes or e-mail requests.
The fee schedule for recording and copies is as follows:
Warranties, Quit Claims, Executor's Deeds, Administrator's Deeds (Any Deed that transfers property)
$53.00 for the first page, $5.00 for each additional page or portion, $2.00 transfer fee for sales from $2,000.00 and over.
Copies of Documents $1.00 per page
Certifying of Documents $2.00 each
Maps $10.00 each
Maps of Subdivisions $20.00 each
Note that all Local Conveyance Taxes are due and payable when recording the document. Also note that the Local conveyance tax is now at the rate of .005% effective 4/21/03.
