Landscapes, highways, and communities define Bridgeport’s neighborhoods. The content of this section owes a debt to the City's Master Plan: Bridgeport 2020: A vision of the Future. While one person’s sense of a neighborhood’s boundaries may differ from another’s, for the purpose of this Master Plan, 13 city neighborhoods have been delineated, as shown on Figure at left. The boundaries of these neighborhoods follow Census tract boundaries, allowing for compatible comparisons across neighborhoods, and respect local understanding of neighborhood lines to the greatest extent possible. However, locally defined districts, such as school districts, police precincts or Neighborhood Revitalization Zones (NRZs), do not necessarily conform to neighborhood boundaries as discussed in section.
