Exercise – Looking to stay in shape? The Eisenhower Senior Center is equipped with exercise equipment available for Bridgeport seniors to use daily from 7:30AM to 3:00PM. Stationary bikes, treadmills and hand weights are available free of charge. In addition to workout equipment, our centers also offer some classes to help you stay in shape.
Three of our centers provides a daily schedule of recreational activities. Black Rock provides seniors with Line Dancing (every Monday 10:00AM to 11:30AM) Tai-Chi (every Monday 9:45AM to 10:45AM) and Zumba (every Tuesday at 10:30AM to 11:30AM) to stay fit and active. Eisenhower Center provides Chair Exercise (every Monday 10:00AM to 11:00AM) Zumba (every Wednesday at 11:15AM to 12:00AM) and Line Dancing (every Friday 11:00AM to 12:00PM)
Knitting and Crochet- Nina is the instructor and her class is everyday from 10:00AM to 12:00PM. The seniors really enjoy this class as it grows daily. They are taught how to make hats, scarves, socks etc on knitting looms and also by free hand using knitting needles or crochet hooks. This is a great way for them to express themselves, socialize and help each other with their projects.
Art Therapy- Monday through Friday from 7:30AM to 3:00PM the seniors are able to color different kind of pages out of books using colored pencils, thin markers etc. This helps them to relax and focus and is also a good fine motor skill to help strenghten their hands.
Ceramics– Be artistic and have fun in a friendly ceramics class!
At the Eisenhower Center, Audrey will assist you with the instruction and materials you need. Make great gifts from our huge selection. Whether you need to stay active or want to express your artistic flare, ceramics is for you! No experience necessary. You will learn all the basic skills necessary to create beautiful projects for beginners or those who have enjoyed this art before. You choose your own projects from the shelf and turn plain clay sculptures into beautiful works of art. Open to all Bridgeport Seniors - Tuesday, 10:00AM– 3:00PM. You may bring your lunch with you or have lunch at the Eisenhower center, call at 203-576-7994. There is a refrigerator and microwave available. Snacks are also available for purchase. Restroom facilities are accessible on site. This is a smoke-free, wheelchair accessible environment. Registration may be made through the Eisenhower Center. Phone: 576-7993.
BINGO– Come join us with our new modernized bingo machines or play traditional bingo twice a week at our centers. Open to all Bridgeport Seniors. No reservations necessary. Bingo is held at: Black Rock Center on Wednesdays 12:30PM – 3:00PM; Eisenhower Center on Wednesdays 1:00PM – 3:00PM; Bethany Center on Fridays 1:00PM – 3:00PM and East Side Center on Monday through Friday 12:30PM to 3:00PM. We also have a HUGE BINGO BLAST every second Thursday a month at the Eisenhower Center. All seniors are welcome.
Computer– The Eisenhower Center has a Computer Room with six workstations available to seniors between the hours of 7:30AM – 3:00PM daily. Each workstation is internet ready. Seniors can search the internet, send/access email or just use the word processing programs. Some assistance provided. Certain times of the year there is a computer teacher also available to teach the seniors basic skills.
Billards – The Eisenhower Center has 2 billiard tables – come on down and play a game of 8 ball, 9 ball.
