From case management and legal aid to internships, volunteering opportunities, and reentry mentoring support, MIRA offers a wide range of general assistance to those requiring reentry-based support.

Reentry Resources

Alliance for Community Empowerment - Services include daycare, emergency rent and utilities assistance, eviction prevention, and more.

Support Enforcement Services - The MIRA office conducts 1-on-1 reviews of child support cases when requested by individuals.

Connecticut Legal Services - CLS helps low-income individuals and families navigate the legal system through representation, advocacy, and advice. 

Connecticut's Reentry Community - This collaboration of local and state organizations seeks to help fill service gaps for individuals returning home from incarceration. Assistance in the areas of food, clothing, housing, transportation, education, employment, identification, health care, and mental health are available. 

Ex-Offender Reentry Programs - The Network of Care for Mental/Behavioral Health is an online portal that provides a list of services, including housing, food,  legal assistance, employment opportunities and mental health support for ex-offenders.

Family ReEntry - Services include transitional housing, youth mentoring, support for mental health and substance abuse issues, and fatherhood engagement.

Heart 4 Hearts, Inc. - Reentry services include assistance obtaining personal identification, housing, education, GED & job training, employment assistance, substance abuse treatment, access to health care and medication, mental health screening, counseling, financial literacy training and more.

LifeBridge Community Services - LifeBridge offers after-school programs for kids aged 11 to 14, therapy, emotional support, and family resources.

National Reentry Resource Center - NRRC provides training to recipients of the Second Chance Act (SCA) grant, hosts webinars for reentry information, and lists relevant resources. 

Picking up the Pieces: A Re-Entry Simulation - In this video detailing the reentry process, service providers and ex-offenders are shown what to expect when transitioning to life after incarceration.

Reentry MythBusters - JustLeadershipUSA (JLUSA) has prepared factsheets about different facets of reentry—housing, child support, veterans services, and much more.

Social Service Supports - CTLawHelp keeps an updated list of available social services like food stamps, housing assistance, social security and disability benefits.

2-1-1 of Connecticut - A program of United Way of Connecticut, 2-1-1 is a free referral service that connects ex-offenders with food pantries, clothing drives, community clinics, housing options, mental health services, job assistance programs, transportation, obtaining identification and much more.
