Our mission is to ensure the provision and coordination of human services for the City's armed forces veterans. The Veterans Support Center is the first of its kind in the nation. This unique center serves as a central location for area veterans to access City, State, and Federal assistance.
Many amenities are available to veterans, including transportation in the form of a shuttle bus from the Department of Veterans Affairs to the V.A. Hospital in West Haven. For more information on this service, click here
A food pantry is also available to Bridgeport veterans on the third Tuesday and Wednesday of every month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m
Finally, the department works closely with organizations throughout Bridgeport to provide educational programs on housing, careers, health and wellness, and drug and alcohol use.
The State and Federal offices located within Bridgeport can help veterans and their families claim benefits and entitlements, and can provide readjustment counseling services. The department has taken significant strides in recent years to help veterans transition back into our community.
