Capital Tax Recovery

To ensure fair taxation, the City of Bridgeport has contracted with Capital Tax Recovery to identify unregistered or vehicles registered out of state owned by residents that are not properly registered. Capital Tax Recovery is currently scanning license plates throughout the city to verify that all resident vehicles are registered in Connecticut with Bridgeport listed as the tax town.

If you were a Bridgeport resident on or before October 1st of each year, your vehicle(s) must be registered in the City of Bridgeport, indicated by Tax Town Code 015 on your Connecticut registration(s). You have 90 days from the date you establish residency in Connecticut to transfer your vehicle registration. For more information on how to register your vehicle, please contact the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles

Failure to register your vehicle within the required timeframe may result in additional fees and fines.

If you receive a notice from Capital Tax Recovery, YOU MUST CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY.  If you believe you received the notice in error, you must provide Capital Tax Recovery with sufficient proof by the deadline stated in their letter or a tax bill will be generated.
