- As of July 1, 2021, regardless of the date the adoption was finalized, the adopted persons and the eligible relatives will be able to obtain the original birth certificate upon request.
- In addition to extending access upon request to any adopted person, the law also changes the process of how to obtain the record.
- A person who is not entitled to receive the record upon request may petition the court for an order allowing such person access to the original birth record.
- The fee for an uncertified copy of an original birth certificate is $65.00.
