Bridgeport’s greatest asset is its 24 miles of waterfront. There are approximately 260 waterfront properties covering an approximate area of 850 acres, out of which approximately 430 acres (49%) are publicly owned. The Waterfront Plan provides a framework to guide land use along the city’s entire waterfront in a way that balances the needs of environmentally sensitive areas with economic development opportunities and provides guidance for public access and open space.

After a successful planning effort that engaged the community and stakeholders in creating a new vision for the Bridgeport Waterfront, we are now working with community members to implement the plan and transform our Waterfront.
A group of community members and experts in the development of public spaces, funding and other areas are partnering with city to help guide implementation. This group, the Waterfront Advisory Board, meets at 6:30pm every 3rd Thursday of the month at the B:Hive, 285 Fairfield Ave in Downtown.
