Warrant Applications
Instructions Associated with Warrant Applications
Felony Crimes
The complainant or victim must see a detective. The victim must first have reported the crime to the patrol division. The patrol division files a written incident report. The victim will be instructed by the officer when the report will be available and to call the detective bureau at 203-581-5201 to arrange to meet with a detective. Prior to the meeting with a detective, the victim/complainant should go to the record room and obtain a copy of the incident report. There is no charge for this copy. At the meeting a detective or a supervisor will review the report and determine what action should be taken. Often, it is at this time that a warrant application is given to the victim/complainant.
Misdemeanor Crimes
The warrant application process for Misdemeanor crimes is the same as Felony crimes.
