Bridgeport, CT – City officials have announced that the State Department of Transportation shall initiate milling and road paving project to restore intersections on East Main Street from Stratford Avenue to the Huntington Turnpike.

The MILLING component of this project is tentatively expected to begin the night of Tuesday, May 17, 2022, and will last about six (6) nights, finishing the morning of Tuesday, May 24, 2022. The PAVING component of this project is expected to begin the night of Tuesday, May 24, 2022, and will last about eight (8) nights, finishing the morning of Wednesday, June 8, 2022. The projected working hours are  7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. This schedule will be dependent on weather.

It should be remembered that "milling" refers to the process of grinding and removing the existing top layer of pavement. Drivers should exercise caution during the milling process.

Drivers are reminded of the following during this time:

  • Comply to "No Parking" signs that may be put on roads 24 hours before paving. These zones will be enforced, and if a car is parked on a road that is scheduled to be paved, it will be towed.
  • Follow the detour signs that will be displayed while the pavement is being done. Please prepare appropriately and be aware that getting to your destination may take longer than expected.
  • Drive cautiously, keeping an eye out for elevated structures and manhole covers that may still be exposed and raised until paving is completed.

Any questions or concerns, please contact Lino Bruno, Transportation Maintenance Planner, at pasqualino.bruno@ct.gov or 203-389-3035 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
