Product Recall Announcement

New York Wholesale Group, based in Hicksville, NY, is recalling several Zaarah Herbals products: Rasayan Churan, Gurmar Powder, Vasaka Powder, and Bhringraj Powder. These products may contain unsafe levels of lead and arsenic, which can be harmful to your health.

Why this matters:

Lead exposure can be dangerous, even in small amounts. In the short term, low levels of lead might not cause obvious symptoms, but it can still raise the amount of lead in the blood. Higher levels or long-term exposure can lead to serious health problems. Lead can affect almost every part of the body. The risks depend on how much lead a person is exposed to, for how long, and their age or body weight. If a fetus (unborn baby) is exposed to lead over time, it can cause permanent damage to the brain and nervous system. This may lead to learning problems, developmental delays, and other long-term issues. In adults, long-term lead exposure is linked to kidney problems, high blood pressure, heart disease, and memory or thinking problems.

Arsenic exposure is also dangerous. It has been linked to cancer, skin problems, heart disease, and diabetes. If a baby or young child is exposed to arsenic, it may affect brain development and increase the risk of cancer later in life.

Where the products were sold:

These Zaarah Herbals products were sold to stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and California between December 20, 2024, and January 7, 2025.

Packaging details:

The recalled products come in clear 100g (3.5 oz) jars with gold lids. The product name is clearly shown on the front of the jar.
