Bridgeport, CT – Today, Mayor Ganim and the City of Bridgeport has announced street milling and paving to take place throughout the City during the spring and summer seasons. The citywide initiative began during the month of May, in which crews have already started to address roadways that cause major concern. Throughout the process of milling and paving, the City is encouraging all residents to be mindful when traveling in areas where roads are being treated. Residents should be cautious of uneven road surfaces and raised manhole covers, which will be highlighted with bright paint for increased visibility. There may be traffic delays during this initiative—residents are also encouraged to use alternative routes when necessary and allow for additional travel time when possible.

“As the weather begins to warm up and our residents spend more time outdoors, it’s critical that we use this opportunity to address the maintenance of our roadways,” stated Mayor Ganim. “Our residents have been making their voices heard loud and clear regarding the conditions of our roads. We’ve taken note of those concerns by establishing a milling and paving schedule that will allow our crews to tend to as many corridors as possible while enhancing the quality of life for our residents.”

As residents are being encouraged to take caution on the road, residents must also adhere to “No Parking” signs as posted in designated work areas. Signs will be posted 24 hours in advance to milling and paving. Parking violations will be strictly enforced in these areas and vehicles in violation will be towed. Detour signs may also be posted throughout milling and paving areas to allow for alternate routes when necessary.
