Mayor Ganim Issues Statement Regarding the Passing of Former President, Jimmy Carter
Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim issues statement regarding the passing of the 39th President, Jimmy Carter:
“I would like to express my condolences to the family of former President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. President Carter’s contributions to our nation during his term as the 39th President will always be remembered while he dedicated himself to the advocacy for peace and human rights throughout the nation. After his term in the White House, President Carter’s humanitarian efforts elevated him beyond the title of former President, as he played a pivotal role in the growth of the widely known non-profit organization, Habitat for Humanity. Through his involvement, Habitat for Humanity established a strong presence in cities and towns across the U.S., including Bridgeport. Out of the 4,447 homes that have been built under Habitat for Humanity’s initiatives, I am both proud and grateful that Bridgeport has become a hub for some of those homes; allowing Bridgeport residents the opportunity to experience homeownership. President Carter has lived a long and impactful life, and his incredible work will forever stand as a testament to his legacy.”
