Bridgeport, CT – Today, Mayor Ganim made a statement regarding Bridgeport’s lawsuit against United Illuminating:

“As Mayor of the City of Bridgeport, I am gratified that the Superior Court overturned the Siting Council decision to place monopoles along the Metro North railroad, resulting in a major win for our residents.

United Illuminating (UI) should be held to the same scrutiny and standards as proposed by other cities and towns in Connecticut. My administration will continue to demand UI to underground all transmission lines to preserve the aesthetics and value of our waterfront property, contribute to our economic development, and protect our cultural and historic sites.

I remain ready and willing to negotiate in good faith with UI towards an acceptable below ground alternative proposal.”
