The City would like to remind all residents to stay vigilant when receiving unsolicited texts or emails claiming to be from the City or an elected official. If you receive a message requesting Gift cards, Social Security Numbers, banking details, or other personal information, please ignore and delete it immediately.
 

All online payments must be made only through official City systems, such as the Park City Portal, WPCA Payment Portal, or the Tax Payment portal. When in doubt, always start by visiting the City’s official website and navigating to payment links directly. Payments should only be made in person or through our verified online portals.

  • Verify the sender’s email address: Ensure it is legitimate and not a close imitation of an official address.
  • Check for spelling or grammatical errors: Scam messages often contain noticeable mistakes.
  • Avoid clicking suspicious links: Hover over links to confirm the true URL before selecting them and or type the city website address yourself.
  • Do not open unexpected attachments: They may contain malicious software.
  • Watch for generic greetings: Messages addressed to “Customer” or similar may be fraudulent.
  • Be cautious of urgent or threatening language: Scammers use pressure tactics to provoke quick action.
  • Confirm the message through another channel: If something seems off, contact the sender directly using a verified phone number or website.
  • Keep your security software updated: Ensure your antivirus and or anti-malware tools are current.
  • Enable MFA/2FA: Multi-factor authentication provides an added layer of protection on your accounts.
  • Use Strong, Unique Passwords: Avoid reusing passwords across accounts.
  • Never provide personal information: Never provide banking details, social security numbers, passwords, etc. through email or text.
