MAYOR GANIM KICKS OFF NEW “CONPLAN” CONSOLIDATED FIVE-YEAR PLAN PROCESS
Bridgeport, CT -- Mayor Ganim announces the work has begun for the City’s Consolidated Plan, otherwise known as ConPlan 2020-2025. ConPlan serves as the framework for a community-wide dialogue to identify housing and community development priorities that align and focus funding from HUD formula block grant programs; CDBG, HOPWA, ESG, and HOME. The Office of Planning and Economic Development has selected CIVITAS LLC as the consultant to facilitate community engagement, among other tasks, that will coordinate and define the City’s five-year consolidated plan (2020-2025).
“It’s important that residents make their voices heard in this process” Mayor Ganim said. “Working with CIVTAS will heighten our standard of best practices and allows exactly that—for everyone to have an opportunity to share how they’d like to see these funds allocated to meet the needs of our community.”
ConPlan is designed to help assess affordable housing, community development needs, market conditions and to make data-driven, pace-based investment decisions. The plan outlines HUD Entitlement Programs budgetary priorities and will include opportunities for community members and stakeholders to participate through surveys, public hearings, and meetings in upcoming months.
The city’s most vulnerable population (low-mod income, elderly, veterans, children and families) depend on HUD entitlement Programs to provide much needed services.
