Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Ganim and Emergency Operations Center Director Appleby joined to announce that the deadline to report damage caused by recent flash flooding has been extended to September 16, 2021.  Residents are encouraged to submit details of damage which may include a list of damages, estimated costs, and pictures to be compiled by the City of Bridgeport and presented to the State of Connecticut for possible reimbursement. 

Mayor Ganim stated, “We can make a request and possibly receive funding from the State, but we need your help. We are urging all residents and business owners to report damages sustained by the flash flooding so that our Emergency Operations Center will be equipped with the evidence to advocate for funding to reimburse our residents and repair our City.”

“The first step in the process to request funding it is to submit a comprehensive report which details the true impact of this weather event. If you are a Bridgeport business owner or resident that has experienced damage or loss due to the remnants of Hurricane Ida, we want to hear from you.” 

City and EOC officials advise that residents and business owners document and report any damage to their insurance company with appropriate photos and estimates. All damages not covered by insurance will be included in the EOC report that will be reported to the CT DEMHS.
