WORK RULES & REGULATIONS
There are certain standards of behavior which we must all observe as good citizens and good employees. All employees are expected to perform their jobs with pride and respect for our City, and with consideration for their associates.
ATTENDANCE
This policy establishes attendance guidelines and procedures and describes the responsibility of the employee and supervisor in maintaining an effective attendance program.
TARDINESS
This policy establishes tardiness guidelines and procedures and describes the responsibility of the employee and supervisor in maintaining an effective tardiness policy.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE
To establish consistent guidelines related to personal appearance and appropriate attire for City employees.
SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS
The City of Bridgeport is dedicated to creating and maintaining a healthy environment. This policy is intended to eliminate the potential for exposure to secondhand smoke and to create a smoke free campus both indoors and outdoors to protect the health and welfare of our employees and visitors.
DRUG & ALCOHOL TESTING
The purpose of this policy is to establish the guidelines and procedures whereby a prospective employee of the City of the Bridgeport is required to take a pre-employment drug test or may be ordered to undergo drug and/or alcohol testing when reasonable suspicion exists that the employee is using drugs and/or alcohol while on duty.
INCLEMENT WEATHER
This policy establishes guidelines and procedures for employees and supervisors in the event of inclement weather.
PERSONAL PHONE CALLS
To establish a policy regarding employee use of City telephones for personal calls.
SEXUAL HARRASSMENT
To reaffirm the City's Policy prohibiting sexual harassment in the workplace.
WORKPLACE BULLYING
The purpose of this policy is to communicate to all employees, including all City of Bridgeport officials, elected, or appointed, including supervisors, managers and executives, that the City of Bridgeport will not in any instance tolerate bullying behavior.
RACIAL, ETHNIC OR SEXIST SLURS
The purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines prohibiting racial, ethnic, or sexist slurs by employees of the City of Bridgeport.
ETHICS
The Code of Ethics and Commission on Ethics Ordinance is adopted for the City of Bridgeport and is established with the purpose of setting forth ethical standards of conduct and prohibited activities which will be consistent with the best interest of the City of Bridgeport.
GENERAL GOVERNMENT SAFETY
It is the policy of the City of Bridgeport to provide safe and healthful working conditions for its employees.
City Departments may have their own additional internal policies and guidelines, but those policies may not supersede City wide policies. For further information and certain job-specific guidelines please refer to the respective Collective Bargaining Agreement.
